911 Call of Man Clinging to Car Hood: ‘Someone’s Trying to Steal My Car’
Neighbors Call Police to Report Monkey Sitting on Their Mailbox, Eating Their Mail
Suburbia is often teeming with aggravatingly annoying animals. Raccoons pick apart trash bags at night, and squirrels fight with winged nuisances over the seeds we put in bird feeders. But this Florida suburb probably wasn't quite expecting to find amonkeyterrorizing their neighborhood.
Sanford, FL, police officers responded to a call earlier this week that a monkey had somehow come to their neighborhood and was causing all kinds of shenanigans. Specifically, the phone complaint was that the monkey was sitting on one resident's mailbox, eating their mail.
Five police officers and members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were immediately dispatched. When they found the monkey (who was later identified as an escaped house pet named Zeek) he happened to be climbing up a street sign.
He had been pulling mail out of neighbors' mailboxes for a little morning snack.
The monkey also decided that the best course of action as soon as the cops arrived was tobreak their police car.
Eventually, cops managed to distract the creature with a bottle of water.
