Prince Harry Said the Perfect Thing to Comfort a Child Who Had Lost His Mother
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had countless adorable moments with kids on their royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji. It’s a preview of what they might be like as parents, since Meghan is pregnant with their first child. And on Tuesday, Harry had an emotional moment with a young supporter in New Zealand who had a lot in common with the royal.
Harry and Meghan were greeting well-wishers at Viaduct Harbor in Auckland when he spoke to six-year-old boy Otia Nante and his grandmother, Te Nante. Little Otia had lost his mother, and Te explained he looked up to Harry, who had gone through the same experience. The Duke of Sussex was 12 when his mother, Princess Diana, died in a car accident.
Otia had written him a letter, which Harry received and put in his pocket. “Life will always be all right, you know that?” Harry told Otia. “I made it to 34 years old and life is great. I’ve got a beautiful wife, baby on the way. Your life is going to be sorted, don’t you worry about that.”
He also took a moment to acknowledge the boy's grandmother.
